Introduction to jazz for the young dancer. Jazz technique begins with alignment and basic coordination. Class includes body iso- lations, jumps, turns, leaps, and explores the various styles of jazz dance.
Jazz I ages 6 and up
Jazz technique begins with alignment and basic coordination. Class includes body isolations, jumps, turns, leaps, and explores the various styles of jazz dance. Leotard, shorts/jazz pants, black jazz shoes and hair up.
Jazz II (instructor approval required)
Level II students have a basic understanding of beginner jazz movement (pivot turns, jazz squares, jazz walks). Continue to achieve proper technique while executing chainé turns, split leaps, and battements. Leotard, shorts/jazz pants, black jazz shoes and hair up. Instructor approval required.
Jazz III (instructor approval required)
Level III students have increased flexibility and strength, can execute a proper single pirouette turn, chainé turns, and split leap. Leotard, shorts/jazz pants, black jazz shoes and hair up.Instructor approval required.
Jazz IV (instructor approval required)
Level IV students have mastered double pirouette turns, chainé turns, piqué turns, and learn more advanced skills such as axles, switch leaps, and fouetté turns. Leotard, shorts/jazz pants, black jazz shoes and hair up. Instructor approval required.

DanceQuest focuses on proper technique in all styles, and jazz is no exception! We pride ourselves on proper posture, alignment, and placement. Those basics are so important as our students learn more advanced skills and will improve their turns, leaps, specialty jumps and choreography. Solid colored-leotard required for all jazz classes, as well as jazz shoes, hair up in ponytail or bun, and jazz shorts, pants, leggings, or tights. No baggy clothes.
